I'm Peter Albee — a retired private yacht and sport-fishing captain who spent 38 years running boats through South Florida, the Bahamas' remote out-islands, the Caribbean, Belize, Honduras, Mexico, and Turks & Caicos. Along the way I built an archive of more than half a million underwater and marine photographs. This is where I'm sharing it.
The Captain's Eye

Thirty-eight years behind the lens.
I started diving in 1974 and spent the next four decades captaining private yachts and sport-fishing charters across South Florida, the Bahamas — including out-islands nearly 800 miles down the chain that most visitors never see — plus the Caribbean, Belize, Honduras, Mexico, and Turks & Caicos. Every trip out was a chance to shoot — 58-megapixel stills and drone video above the waterline, a Nikon D850 in an Aquatica or Nauticam housing below it.
What came home with me was an archive few working photographers can match: over half a million images and video clips of stingrays, sea turtles, reef life, and the impossible turquoise water that makes this part of the world famous.

Southern stingrays in the shallows. Green sea turtles gliding past. Split-level shots that catch the boat above and the reef below in a single frame. This is a small sample of a collection that spans 38 years and six countries.
